Kids & Family Child Supplement
The state supports families with low incomes in raising children with the child supplement. The child supplement is paid by the Familienkasse (Family Office) depending on the income.

Who gets Child Supplement?
Parents and single parents are entitled to child supplement for unmarried, under 25 year old children living in their households if the following conditions are met:
- For these children, child benefit or a similar benefit is paid.
- The gross income of the parents is at least 900 Euro, for single parents 600 Euro.
- The gross income does not exceed the maximum income limit. The calculation of the maximum income threshold depends on the cost of living of the parents and is calculated individually by the Familienkasse.
- The need of the family is covered by the payment of child supplement, and the unemployment benefit II or income support (Sozialgeld) is therefore unnecessary.
How much is Child Supplement?
The level of the child supplement depends on the parents’ income and assets. It can be a maximum of 170 Euro per child per month.

You need to apply for child supplement in writing at the local Familienkasse.
